Torre del Reloj

Se conoce con este nombre por su función de contener la máquina del reloj para que los vecinos de San Vicente supieran la hora.

Existe la posibilidad de que hubiera una construcción anterior con esta misión aprovechando una torre medieval, pero su hundimiento y reconstrucción en el siglo XVII, varió su posición sin alejarse mucho de la primera.

Testimonios de 1673 declaran que la torre anterior se había hundido por las desfavorables condiciones climatológicas (especialmente las del año anterior), considerando que la nueva obra era imprescindible para poder llegar a los divinos oficios con puntualidad y para otras cuestiones “…dezentes…”

Con dos accesos, el arco para el paso la parte superior se corresponde también con una obra del XVII y fue reformado en 1991.

The clock tower    

This tower owes its name to the clock machinery kept inside and has been telling the time for the neighbors of San Vicente since 1673. It retains a unique access in the shape of an arch, which was restored in 1991.
 
It replaced a tower built in medieval times that housed the clock and protected the front gate of the upper enclosure. This old tower collapsed in the 17th century.
 
Testimonies of 1673 declared that it had sunk due to unfavorable weather conditions, and that the new clock tower was essential for the villagers to be able to reach the divine offices punctually.
